Neural Mechanisms of Meditation & Depression

Clinical Psychology graduate student Dev Ashish's AMRIG Presentation from April 27, 2010

Summary: Dev Ashish has been interested in the science behind meditation for over a decade. He changed his career from computer science and artificial intelligence to psychology to study meditation and currently he is a first year clinical psychology doctoral student at the University of Arizona. In the presentation, Dev will try to address the question about the neural mechanisms underlying depression that are altered with mindfulness training. We will explore how mindfulness training alters the neural mechanisms underlying depressive symptoms and how does the mindfulness training has a lasting effect on depressive symptomatology?
